Iron Pans

To clean cast iron pans, wipe them out with a damp cloth rather than completely wash them, dry completely to prevent rust.

Copper Pans

To get them to shine again, dip the bottom of the pot in leftover pickle juice. Let it sit for about 10-15 mintes. Rinse well. Or, For copper pots, fill a spray bottle with vinegar and add 3 tablespoons of salt. Then spray the solution on copper pot. Let stand, then rub clean.
Rub on Worcestershire sauce or catsup, and tarnish will disappear.
Or dip lemon halves in salt and rub.

Burnt Pots & Pans

Make a paste of water & baking soda, rub into burnt area, then let it sit for an hour or so, it will come clean quite easily.

Aluminum Pots

To restore shine, boil some apple peels for a few minutes. Rinse well.

Enamel Ware

To remove any discoloration, make a paste of equal amounts of salt and vinegar, clean area & let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse well.

Non-Stick Cookware

On non-stick cookware, stubborn stains can be removed by boiling 2 tablespoons of baking soda, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 1 cup of water for ten minutes. Before using, season pan with salad oil.

To rid cutting board of following smells (onion, fish smell, or garlic)

Cut a lime or lemon in two and rub the surface with the cut side of the fruit.
Or, make a paste of baking soda and water and apply generously, then rinse.
